Kathmandu, March 4:
All educational institutions including in Kathmandu Valley remain closed today due to the educational strike called by All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary) close to Communist Party of Nepal.
Teaching and learning activities of all private and community schools and colleges were affected as a result. Spokesperson at the Education Ministry, Dr Hari Prasad Lamsal, said that teaching and learning activities of around 7.5 million students were affected.
Saying some 8,000 private schools remain shut due to the educational strike, General Secretary of PABSON, Rajendra Baniya, said that they were compelled to close the schools after the government failed to ensure security to schools.
Vice-Chairperson of the ANNISU (Revolutionary) Lal Bahadur Tamang said that they called the educational strike after government arrested their leaders. The government few days ago had arrested its General Secretary Dipendra Chalaune as well as other leaders.
