Leaders of various student organizations have decried the private schools’ unilaterally hiking the fees in contravention of the government regulations and guidelines on school education.
Talking to RSS, the student leaders said that the hike in the school fees flouting the rules determined by the government would not be at all acceptable to them.
Nepal Students Union (NSU) president Naina Singh Mahar demanded that the private school operators should remain within the parameters fixed by the government, warning that they would go for the third round protests if the private schools did not refund the parents the hiked fees.
He was of the view that the government should build a strong basis towards upgrading the standard of education at the public schools.
President of All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary) Ranjit Tamang urged the government to take action against the private schools as per the school education guidelines if they did not withdraw the fee hike decision. He added that the student unions would open the padlock that they have put at private schools if the private schools committed to abide by the guidelines.
Treasurer of the All Nepal National Free Students Union, Jhapindra Khatri strongly called on the private schools to retract the fee hike and warned the student unions would be forced to wage stern agitation for the rights and interests of the students.
The Joint Students Organisation has padlocked some private schools since some days to protest the fee hike.
