Supreme court seeks written response why commoner banned movement during VIP’s motorcade

Kathmandu, Feb 7, 2018

The Supreme Court has sought a written response from the government why the movement of common people was not allowed in the streets during the motorcade of the President and the VIPs.

A single bench of Justice Tej Bahadur KC issued the order asking the government to furnish the response within 15 days to this end.

The order further queried whether there were any provisions in the law that bans common people’s transportation/movement while keeping road clear for VIP’s route

Advocate Gyanewshwor Koirala had filed a writ petition making the Council of Ministers, Home Ministry and Police Headquarters as the defendants. He had argued that the people’s right to the movement was violated by the ban.
