Kathmandu, Feb 27
Newly appointed Minister for Defense Iswor Pokharel has approved a file related to the Surya Kiran Indo-Nepal joint military exercise.
While assuming his office at the Defense Ministry in Singhadurbar today, Minister Pokharel took the first decision to endorse the joint military exercise in his capacity at the defence minister.
Defense Minister Pokharel was welcomed at the ministry by Nepal Army Chief Rajendra Chhetri and Defense Secretary Binod KC, among others.
On the occasion, the high-ranking officials of the Ministry and Nepal Army had briefed the new minister about the function and responsibilities of NA.
Prior to this, Minister Pokharel has served as the minister of industry and foreign affairs. General-Secretary of CPN-UML, Pokharel was elected from Kathmandu Constituency-5.
