Although it may seem like the epicenter of all things over-the-top is either Las Vegas or Dubai, the world’s most opulent hotel room is actually in Geneva, Switzerland — and it puts the rest of the world’s hotel suites to shame.
The Royal Penthouse Suite at the Hotel President Wilson is officially the world’s most expensive, with rates now starting at approximately $80,000 per night.
In addition to having the biggest price tag, it’s also the largest suite in Europe. It’s a staggering 5,500 square feet of opulence (enough to occupy the entire eighth floor).
One of our favorite features of the Royal Penthouse Suite is a wraparound terrace that overlooks Geneva’s Lac Leman, complete with a telescope for stargazing on clear nights.
The suite can accommodate up to 12 guests (each with their own bedroom), so if you’re trying to justify the price tag, bear in mind that it works out to about $6,600 per person. Totally affordable, right?
There are two master bedrooms, each with a marble bathroom and a Jacuzzi facing the lake. Each bathroom comes stocked with products from Hermès.
Because the suite is often booked by dignitaries or celebrities with massive entourages, it comes equipped with a host of security features. There are bulletproof windows, a private elevator, a reinforced safe, and smattering of emergency alarm buttons around the suite. There’s also a private en-suite gym, so nobody ever sees the VIP sweat.
Of course, the world’s most expensive hotel suite doesn’t just have standard amenities. Guests can watch their shows on the world’s largest TV screen by Bang & Olufsen, entertain on a Steinway grand piano, and admire an art collection of rare and ancient pieces.
