The ward number 4, 12 and 14 in Biratnagar Metropolitan City has been declared as open defecation free (ODF) area.
There are altogether 19 wards in Biratnagar metropolitan city and only ward number 18 and 19 remain to get the ODF status.
Biratnagar mayor Bhim Parajuli gave out this information at a news conference here today. He said works are being carried out for declaring the remaining two wards as ODF areas in two months.
The three wards were declared ODF area after 3,145 houses at Ward No 4, two thousand seven hundred and seventy four houses at Ward No 12 and 1,911houses at Ward No 14 constructed toilets.
Mayor Parajuli said that 99.4 per cent toilets have been constructed in Biratnagar.
Meanwhile, the Biratnagar Metropolitan City has brought into operation from today a newly constructed room for the bench of the municipal judicial committee. Before this, the bench was run from the deputy mayor Indira Karki’s office chamber itself. The committee has settled 20 out of the 80 cases registered with it so far.
