Chief Minister of Gandaki state, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has said that the government was active in conservation of Phewa Lake as prosperity and development of the state was possible from tourism.
Laying the foundation stone for a park at the bank of Phewa Lake at Dam Site, Pokhara-17, today, Chief Minister Gurung said that the government has put infrastructure development in priority to bring tourism possibility of the state into light.
He said that they were committed to implement the order of Supreme Court for Phewa Lake conservation. Saying the Gandaki state government was steadfast in its resolve to complete the under construction development projects on time, the Chief Minister expressed the view that the construction company should not forget its responsibility and duty.
Similarly, Pokhara Metropolitan City mayor Man Bahadur GC expressed the belief that there would be significant support in tourism promotion of this area once the park comes into operation.
Gandaki state government and Pokhara Metropolitan City are jointly constructing the park at a cost of Rs 40 million, said Chief Engineer of Pokhara Metropolitan City, Shoviyet Khadka. The park, which will cover around seven ropanis of land, will have restaurants, water fountain, children park and 80-feet high national flag.
Gandaki state’s Minister for Physical infrastructure, Ram Sharan Basnet, Social Development Minister Nardevi Pun and Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment Minister Bikas Lamsal were present on the occasion.
