
Kathmandu, April 1
A trekking route developed, targeting the people with disabilities at Annapurna Rural Municipality- 1 in Kaski has come into operation.The route developed with the financial assistance of Nepal Tourism Board and people’s voluntary labour stretches to 1.3 kilometres.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Rabindra Adhikari, inaugurated it amidst a programme here Saturday. People with disabilities have different types of talents and willpower and activeness would help them explore such potentialities.
On the occasion, people with disabled passed through the trekking route from Bhumeko Than to Himalayan Deurali Resort with the help of wheelchairs and white canes.
Nepal Tourism Board’s executive officer, Deepak Raj Joshi, said the introduction of disabled-friendly trekking route was itself a message to the world that construction of such structure was possible in the country with geographical diversities like Nepal.
Prior to this, Minister Adhikari speaking at a press meet organised by the Press Chautari, Kaski pledged to implement the 16-point action plan for upcoming 100 days he unveiled Friday.
