Most of the lawmakers speaking in the meeting of the National Assembly, the upper house of the federal parliament, today, alleged that that Alliance for Independent Movement led by CK Raut was not abiding by the 11-point agreement that it reached with the government.
Speaking in the special hour of the meeting, lawmaker balram Banskota said that although the Aliance and the government reaching an agreement was a significant development, the slogan of ‘independent Madhes’ have started being raised immediately after the agreement. He urged the government to pay attention to this situation. He also called on the Alliance leader Raut to implement the agreement and suggested the government to arrest him if Raut fails to strictly abide by it. He also drew the government’s attention to the need of bringing the groups that do not accept the constitution into the political mainstream rather than banning them.
Badri Prasad Pandey also drew the attention of the government to the Alliance’s cadres raising banners calling for an ‘independent Madhes’ the next day of the agreement despite the agreement stipulating that it would come into force the same day (March 8).
Kamal Oli described the Prime Minister KP Oli as a patriot as he dreams of the nation’s progress and development and as he tried to rally the nation with patriotic feelings during the undeclared blockade imposed on Nepal by India in 2015. She said the agreement with CK Raut’s Alliance was a bold step.
Brishesh Chandra Lal said the government should pay its attention to the fact that putting a ban on the activities of the Nepal Communist Party led by Netra Bikram Chand that is not registered with the Election Commission would unnecessarily lead to killing of innocent people and loss of public property for political interests.
Ram Chandra Rai urged the government to make arrangement for registering the electric motorcycle and scooters for environment conservation.
Binda Devi Aley asked the government to rethink about the ban on sending women on abroad jobs to the Gulf countries as many women going there illegally were suffering from hardships due to this ban.
Pramila Kumari called on the government to make public the report of the Girish Chandra Lal-led commission formed to investigate the Tharuhat and Madhes movement.
Kali Bahadur Malla said that the government has hurried in banning the Netra Bikram Chand-led party. He said the government should inform the people as to the number of times it took initiatives to hold talks with that party.
National Assembly chairman Ganesh Timilsina instructed the government to respond in the next meeting of the Assembly regarding the demand to make the Lal Commission’s report public.
