The voting process for the election to the President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal has started just a while ago.
Member of federal parliament Jeep Tshring Lama and member of Province Assembly Dama Sharma cast their ballots sharp at 10:00 am as the first voters.
Separate voting centres have been stationed for the members of the federal parliament and province assemblies’ members at the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwor.
The voting time is fixed till 3:00 this afternoon.
Incumbent President Bidya Devi Bhandari and former lawmaker Kumari Laxmi Rai are vying for the post of the President.
An electoral college comprised of members of the federal parliaments and province assemblies members would cast their vote to elect the President and altogether 880 voters would cast vote in the presidential election.
Separate lines for male and female have been arranged to make the voting systematic and ensure prompt security provision in the voting centres.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission (EC) has urged the members of the Federal Parliaments (House of Representative and National Assembly) and Province Assemblies’ to appear in the voting centres along with the certificate of their election in the House or citizenship certificate or voters identity card.
