Week-long International Women’s Day Begins



Kathmandu, March 8, 2018

The week-long International Women Day, 2018 has started from today with the theme of “Time is Now: Rural and urban activists transforming women’s lives”.

The activities to be marked across the country in Nepal with the lead of Ministry of Labour, Employment, Women, Children and Social Security would be towards ensuring economic rights and ownership to women.

On Thursday, a special programme is scheduled to be held at Rastriya Sabha Griha in the presence of the President, the Prime Minister, Ministers and other distinguished personalities.

Likewise, a meeting held under the Minister for Labour, Employment, Women, Children and Social Security Thammaya Thapa held Wednesday shared that many rights of the women in Nepal have been inscribed in the constitution after the implementation of the federalism in the country.

She said that contribution from all sides is needed to empower rural women about their rights as per the spirit of the constitution and added that the remnants of feudalism were not acceptable to the women.

Similarly, Secretary at the Ministry Ngindra Prasad Upadhyay and Joint Secretary Radhika Aryal talked about women’s rights ensured by the Constitution of Nepal.
