The wind that blows from the west is more likely to cause light rainfall across the country as per the Meteorological Forecasting Division of Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
The weather will remain generally cloudy in the western region along with eastern and central hilly regions and partly cloudy in the rest of the country with chances of light rain at one or two places of the hilly regions, the Department said in its weather bulletin.
There remain chances of light to moderate snowfall at some places of the high mountainous region, it added. Likewise, partly to generally cloudy throughout the country is forecasted tonight. Light rain is likely to occur at one or two places of the hilly regions while chances of light to moderate snowfall at some places of the high mountainous region, the Department’s bulletin said.
According to meteorologists, the thick fog in the Tarai has resulted in the dip in the temperature, affecting the normal life there. The lowest temperature in Kathmandu today was recorded 7 degree Celsius while the temperature in Dhangadhi has gone below minus.
Similarly, The Rajbiraj Municipality in Saptari district has announced to close the schools for three days following severe cold. In a press statement, Mayor of the Rajbiraj Municipality Shambhu Prasad Yadav said that the schools would remain closed from December 22 to 24 as the biting cold has affected the normal life lately. Decision was taken to close all the private and community schools in the municipality, read the press statement.
