Woman who died in Bir Hospital tests negative for COVID-19

A woman who had died at the isolation ward of Bir Hospital has tested negative for COVID-19.

Dr. Bidhyanidhi Poudel at the hospital said that her throat swab was sent to the National Public Health Laboratory for a test.

The test report came negative for coronavirus, he added.

According to the hospital Director Dr. Kedar Century, a woman, 37, who was admitted to the hospital on Sunday died in the course of treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.

The woman hails from Chandragiri Municipality in Kathmandu and was suffering from diabetics, urine infection and hypertension.

She had a slight fever when admitted to the hospital. The woman was shifted to ICU after her health condition worsened.

Earlier, it was verified that a youth, suspected for coronavirus, who died in while undergoing treatment at the Patan Hospital ICU on Monday did not have coronavirus infection.

Meanwhile, the test report of a man, 50, who died in the course of treatment at Bir Hospital on Monday is yet to arrive.
