Women journalists honoured



Kathmandu, March 8

All Nepal National Free Students Union and All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary) honoured 18 women journalists today on the occasion of 108th International Women’s Day.

They were honoured for their contribution in bringing the issues of women empowerment into light through journalism.

On the occasion, Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare, Thamamaya Thapa, honoured the journalists. The honoured journalists are—Laxmi Pun, Tika Bista, Debika Gharti Magar, Kamala Panthi, Yasodha Adhikari, Aastha KC and Ramkala Khadka.

Similarly, Kalpana Bhandari, Kriti Bhattarai, Rubi Rauniyar, Debaki Bista, Kabita Thapa, Sanchita Ghimire, Rupani GM, Srijana Duwal, Manju Karki and an artist Nani Thapa were also honoured on the occasion.

Minister Thapa said that an arrangement of toll free number 1145 has been made to complain and inform about the incidents of violation against women like rape. She further said that the government was active to take action against the guilty of such incidents.
