3 June 2021, Kathmandu

The NCP Bagmati province president Ananda Pokhrel has shared greatest honor and a privilege representing Communist Party of Nepal (CPN UML) at the important and historic event in a webinar organized by Chinese Communist Party on Thursday.

President Pokhrel has offered special remarks on Nepal China friendly ties, coping of current pandemics and communist movements of Nepal. He thanked South East Asia and South Asia IDCPC for organizing the event. He congratulated Communist Party of China for successful 100 years of its establishment and 71 years of China Liberation .

He added in his remarks that the whole world should be proud of China because it has not only provided economic dreams but has provided the hope of change and development to country like Nepal with adaptation of “Socialism with Chinese characteristics” in Nepal’s perspectives in building it into a well-off, democratic, civilized and harmonious modern nation.

Even the History of Nepal Communist Party goes way back, 71 years, Communist Party became popular in leadership of Late Madan Bhandari. People’s Multiparty Democracy, the idea and philosophy proposed by Madan Bhandari which was later developed as the guided principle of CPN UML. With the alliance of leading communist parties of Nepal, we secured majority in the Parliamentary Election and later unified as strong single party. This unification lasted merely for 3 years with internal contradiction and conflict of interest. The capitalist and imperialism, were not satisfied with the rise of Communist influence and stable government in Nepal and they played a significant role in split of communist party nurturing instability by weakening CPN UML and Communist Movement by formation of Anti UML alliance .

He further stressed on that the learning from the experiences of Communist activities of Nepal , CPC and CPN UML must work together for development movement in Nepal and strengthening the ideological friendship . The partnership should go beyond central level and expand it to Provincial level. The Diplomatic relation of Nepal and China has been 65 years. All these years, the relationship between two countries has always been friendly and cordial.

The relations between the two countries have been marked by friendliness, understanding, mutual support, cooperation and respect for each other’s sensitivities. Nepal is firmly committed to the one-China policy. We have a principled position that we do not allow our soil to be used against China. We believe this relation we have be more rational and stronger in coming days as well.

The unprecedented impact of COVID 19 has hit Nepal very bad recently. Nepalese People are in panic with the rate of infection and skyrocketing mortality rate. With the limited health infrastructure and our fragile health system Nepal Government is doing everything possible with mobilization of available resource. Since the onset of the pandemic, China and Nepal have firmly supported each other in fighting against COVID 19, and carried out in-depth anti-epidemic cooperation. The prompt decision of donating oxygen cylinder, ICUs Ventilators and other medical supplies when Nepal was in crisis, saved many lives.

CPC also donated medical supplies to Political Parties of Nepal and on behalf of CPN UML, I would like to thank President XI and CPC for this generous act of kindness in our fight against Covid . Even with the surge of demand of vaccine around the world, China has already donated 1.8 million vaccines in donation where other countries have not been able to dispatch the vaccine even after the payments. While the government has adopted various relief measures to contain the pandemic, reduce the impact on households and provide economic support to the most vulnerable firms, importance of reforms to support a resilient recovery is necessary for a resilient recovery and inclusive growth, economic support measures to firms and workers in the informal sector will be important, incentives to agribusiness-based and SMEs, with a focus on returnee migrants and youths, could help increase employment and food security.

Inclusive growth could be further promoted through entrepreneurship support programs and grants to small and medium enterprises which the new budget prepared by CPN UML led government has addressed. Nepal Government has also allocated a huge sum of budget for Vocational trainings which starts from School level in order to create skillful labors for the market and also focused in STEM education for developing skills for innovation through hands in learning approach.

We believe in near future we can develop our own skilled resources in various fields fulfilling the demands in different sectors of developmental activities. The topics discussed were very informative and would like to thank the organizer for organizing this event hoping all the participants learnt something valuable from the presentation on Technology enables Development in the Post Pandemic Era and China’s Vocational Education and the growth of Youths- the remarks read.
