RUWON Nepal accomplished 8 days of training on leadership and gender equality



Rural Women’s Network Nepal (RUWON Nepal) has accomplished leadership development for gender equality training in Bal Uddhar Secondary School, Kapan Kathmandu on March 19, 2021. The training which was commenced on March 12 supported by the Rafto Foundation for Human Rights and Intersectional Feminist Collective trained 100 students studying in different grades of the Bal Uddar School, Kapan, Kathmandu.

The participants were divided into different four groups and each group was trained for two days. The training program was moderated by the trainer Dhurba Prasad Ghimire, Bimala Gurung, Saurav Gautam, and Goma Devi Bastola During the training, participants were provided with a booklet on the leadership development for gender equality published by RUWON Nepal.

On the first day of the program, the participants of all four groups were provided with training. They were taught about various issues such as gender concept including sex and gender, gender roles, gender equality and gender equity, human right and women rights, child marriage, violence, human trafficking, leadership development among others.

On the next day, participants performed individually on the topic of their choice among the topic included in the booklet. They also performed in group in the next session on the topic provided to them. At the end session of the training, participants performed individually on the topic of their choice for a competition. First, second and third position from each four groups were also selected from the program. Apekshya Dhunagana, Anuja Tamang and Deepa Pudasaini from first group, Kabita Tamang, Menuka Karki and Samjhana Rai from second group, Pasang Bhote, Pratima Bhandari and Kusum Khadka from third group and Nabina Tamang, Deeya Sharestha and Babita Baghati from fourth group secured first, second and third positions respectively.

All the participants of the training program will be provided with a certificate of appreciation and the winners with the prize- shared by the president of RUWON Nepal, Goma Devi Bastola.
