Olivia Jordan’s family had a subscription to Sports Illustrated when she was a kid. That figures. Her father, Bob Thomas, is a former University of Tulsa football player.
“When the swimsuit issue would come in, I would always steal it and go through it and go, ‘These are the most powerful, beautiful, empowered women.’ And you could really see that in the pages,” Jordan said.
“And these are, of course, the days of Tyra Banks being on the cover. There is something really powerful about a woman that is owning her body and just being totally unashamed in images. That was something that I have aspired to since I was a kid, which is so crazy.”
Mission accomplished.
The 2018 swimsuit issue has arrived and you can see photos of Jordan, a Bishop Kelley High School alum, making her debut as an SI swimsuit model.
Hey, there she is on page 143 (she’s got it all to herself), and there she is again on page 155 (in a full-page advertisement for SI’s official line of swimwear).
Jordan couldn’t wait to see proof that she was in the issue. She snagged a magazine from an interviewer before she had a chance to acquire her own copy and began flipping through the pages.
